Refulgence

The air and the sand
Are met by lightning’s hand
And I am glass
The sun whispers down
Upon the darkening ground
And I am glass
I am not the light
I am not the light
I’m just a cracked little mirror
Covered with filth and dust
Sun in the sky overhead
Cannot raise the dead
A mere twinkling above
When compared to this love
Great joy now that you’ve
Let the atmosphere move
While I am waiting here
The night is dispelled
When this small mirror is spilled
Upon the ground
The scattering shards
Will point to glorious light
Upon the ground
Sun in the sky overhead
Cannot raise the dead
A mere twinkling above
When compared to this love
Great joy now that you’ve
Let the atmosphere move
While I am here
With nothing to fear
May the radiance come
And all know where from
This brilliant display
Will drown my dismay
Our hearts will come to
An unhindered view
In turning our eyes to you
I saw the world holding mirrors
But their environment was dark black
Yet the glass was painted brightly
A pretty picture gazing back
Oh, I grieve
Is it seven years bad luck
To break me down to the shards I am?
Because this life has seen much more love
When I am broken by a lamb
Oh, I breathe.
Still we look around for some other way
We would rather watch the glass that shows us lies
Consume the scandals of a weary world
And let the peace that passes knowing pass us by
Pass us by
But I am not the light
I am not the light
I’m just a cracked little mirror
Covered with filth and dust
We rely on what our eyes can see
Even though the heart is blinded by itself
Only when it breaks will it be whole
And the greatest love will fill an empty soul
An empty soul
And I am not the light
I am not the light
I’m just a cracked little mirror
Covered with filth and dust
The light of God will be crowned
Our shouts of joy will redound
All knees
All tongues
All here
All now
All know Him

Bold Eternal Day
05:52
|
|
||
In this light the world dims
And people grow pale
The life I lost is found anew
Behind a torn veil
Look away from here
Look away from here
Don’t look away child
You’re not the same as you were
The movements of the universe
Are but a story
Its theme brings honor to the one
Clothed in glory
Look away from here
Look away from here
Don’t look away child
Not on this eternal day

Hope Maketh Not Ashamed
04:47
|
|
||
How can we live by these broken rules?
We may be weak and we may be fools
To still believe what is proclaimed
Hope maketh not ashamed
So great a love has filled our weary hearts
Cherish the joy that knowing him imparts
The stain of doubt has not remained
Hope maketh not ashamed
There is no place for our fear
(For we are his)
We wait for him to appear
(For we are his)
We now rejoice in our troubled days
Forgiveness for all our errant ways
No bygone failings to be named
Hope maketh not ashamed

If the World
04:02
|
|
||
Now there’s a time for all
To rise and stand and fall
And in between there is doubt and fear
As we all know it’s not crystal clear
As all we know begins to disappear
If the world comes crashing down around me
I will not stand still
I would run to the highest place
Where I will never drown
Summer turns to fall
And the winter kills it all
But then the spring comes around again
And the blooms of youth begin
There is life to pass us by once more
This world is vapor
It’s here for a time and then gone tomorrow
Yet this hope that dwells inside remains
It remains

Riddles in the Dark
04:19
|
|
||
You live where only shadows dwell
Darkness is your only friend
It shrouds your face and hides your evil hands
The puzzles of your misplaced youth
Multiplied throughout the years
Leaving you an enigmatic soul
The mysteries that surround you are the mysteries within
Who is there to solve you when you’re riddles in the dark?
You spurned the feast of a loving father
To eat cold flesh of swimming things
And chase your loneliness deeper in a hole

A Handful of Humanity
04:49
|
|
||
We the people have created
A beast of riches and of health
And cower as we watch this creature
Granting power to itself
A world is built from other worlds
Divided unity
What will you do with your hands full
Of humanity?
If ye love wealth more than your freedom
The largest hands will grasp at straws
Elude the eye of their employers
And pass their vague officious laws
The din of progress now surrounds us
The voice of freedom is ignored
Endure the theft of the prodigal fathers
Answer to the pen or to the sword
Our constitution has grown weak
Like a field of dying grass
The eagle’s trampled underfoot
By elephant and ass
The statue’s light begins to fade
And all is vanity
What will you do with your hands full
Of humanity?

Fade
02:30
|
|
||
A candle dims
Late at night
Or elsewhere in some greater light
And either serves to give men sight
But we
All die away
Eventually
So let this wick, so small and frayed
Burn away and be unmade
I fade
I’ll gladly fade
Fade from view
And trade what I love for what is true
Less of me and more of you
I fade
Jesus is the light
Jesus is the light
And he has made me a mirror
Reflecting his good face
Jesus is the light
Jesus is the light
And he can make you a mirror
By his perfect grace
Yes he can make you a mirror
By his perfect grace
